The Third
Tucked away in the heart of Ottawa’s lively Wellington West neighborhood, The Third is one of those spots you walk into once-and instantly know you’ll be back. Located at 1017 Wellington St. W, this laid-back restaurant blends urban charm with a cozy, almost living-room feel that keeps locals and newcomers coming back for more.
The vibe here is something special. It’s got that perfect balance of casual and curated, like your cool friend’s dinner party where the playlist is always on point and the food hits just right. Whether you're sliding in for a solo brunch with a strong coffee or rounding up your crew for a relaxed dinner, The Third somehow always fits the mood.
What makes The Third stand out is its no-fuss attitude wrapped around seriously satisfying food. The menu leans into comfort classics, but always with a thoughtful twist-think bold flavors, hearty portions, and that feeling of “just what I needed.” There’s something comforting about the way dishes are plated, shared, and served here. You’re not just eating-you’re part of the experience.
One of the things people love most about The Third is how naturally it fits into the rhythm of the day. It’s the kind of place where you can drop in after a morning market stroll or settle in late with a drink and a few small plates. The energy shifts throughout the day, but it always feels familiar.
If you’re the type who appreciates spaces that don’t scream for attention yet quietly impress with every detail, The Third is going to be your kind of place. No frills, no fuss-just honest food, good vibes, and a spot that feels like a second home. Or in this case, maybe even a third.
The Third Reviews
Fabulous restaurant that is very popular for many reasons - friendly service, delicious food, affordable prices, a cozy atmosphere, plus a wide variety of popular food and drink options. I had the spicy wings, and they were great. Ashley, my server was amazing! Ashley was super friendly, offered great advice on the food and drinks and I had a great time because of her wonderful personality. I highly recommend The Third.
If you can get a table at this adorable spot, consider yourself very lucky. Worth the wait. Food is amazing, very reasonably priced, service is fantastic (Ashley was so kind, knowledgeable and wonderful) and they always have rotating taps of craft beer. Not featured on their menu but AMAZING: a Caesar and the poutine.
Stopped by today for the first time, my friend and I were both impressed by the great service, delicious food and reasonable prices. We both have the grilled cheese with beef brisket, it was yummy and I would get it again. We both said how it was the perfect serving size. I will definitely go back!
Amazing place. Will be back to try more food! And the large beers are a great deal. Very busy place, but that's part of it! The most expensive thing on the menu is 13. The best deal in town. These people are doing the best thing for the community!
This was my first time visiting The Third. The place was smaller than I was expecting but that gives it a bit of a cozy feel. The staff here are some of the nicest/friendliest servers I've come along in quite a while. They were polite, respectful, and quick! Our server made a wonderful recommendation on a menu selection for lunch. The food was delicious and just the right sized portion. I didn't leave hungry but wasn't overly full. I'd say "comfortable" which was perfect. Both my friend and I had the "melt" sandwich and we opted for Brisket in it. I loved the pickles on mine. The price was also quite nice. This is one of the cheaper places I've been. Lunch for under 20 with a non-alcoholic drink (before tip) is pretty rare. I have a mobility issue but had no issues walking through the restaurant to get to the washroom. The aisle had a ramp and was wide enough not to bump into chairs etc... The washroom was clean, well stocked and well lit. The only downside was that then place became full (there was a large group that came in), it was very, very loud, to the point where my friend and I were having trouble hearing one and other across the table. Over all, it was a lovely experience and I look forward to going back!
This restaurant has a great atmosphere and excellent service. They offer a wide selection of local beers, which is a big plus. I had a beer and a meal—the beer was fantastic, but the food didn’t quite meet my expectations. Still, if you’re in Ottawa, it’s worth a visit.
Came for a work outing with a large-ish group, everyone in my party was thoroughly impressed with the value and taste of the food and drinks! I got the brisket main which was surprisingly hefty for the price point and mega delicious. The space is fairly small, it is very popular and fills up quickly, I’d recommend reservations to guarantee your spot. The staff are accommodating and welcoming. Definitely coming back!
We’ve tried coming here a few times, but the waitlist can be quite long and after trying it now, there’s clearly a reason. The third menu is comfort foods, that are well done well, and at a great price point (60-70 for two with drinks, main and an appetizer). Our waiter was attentive throughout our dinner despite the place being packed. Overall, 5/5 experience and worth the wait !
